The world needs your gift as much as you need to bestow it.
-Sarah Ban Breathnach
I’ve seen my share of superhero movies, and my favorite is the 2020 version of Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot. It made me want to stand up and cheer (thankfully we watched it at home)! I think superheroes touch two parts of our consciousness – the part that wishes someone or something supernatural would show up and save the day, and the part that resonates with our higher power. Somewhere inside we know that more is possible for us, through us, as us. That is the divine spark, truly a superpower.
I feel empowered and inspired by those who exhibit gifts and strengths I wish I had, or wish I had the courage to express. Have you ever considered what your unique superpowers are? We can get clues from various assessments that identify our strengths, like the StrengthsFinder 2.0, the Myers-Briggs test, and the Enneagram, to name a few. These tools help us to understand ourselves and others better and appreciate differences instead of criticizing them. I took the StrengthsFinder when I started my job last year, and it gave me greater insight into my way of thinking and relating to others. My supervisor often refers to the results for our team members to build understanding and appreciation between us.
There is still a part of me that longs for some actual superheroes to come and turn things around. The world seems to be spinning toward Armageddon, and yet spring is awakening from her winter slumber as she does every year. Spring reminds us of the resilience in nature and in us. That which appeared stark and lifeless suddenly begins to burst with buds and blossoms. Color replaces the brown landscape and our spirits are uplifted. It’s a season of transformation and hope.
We all need this about now when it looks like Trouble is growing bigger than Love. Turbulence is everywhere. Our best efforts, good thoughts and prayers don’t seem to be enough some days. An intervention of grand proportions is in order. What is the next right thing we can do?
What if we each found and activated our superpowers? Our gifts and strengths are part of our divine design. We release our inner power when we recognize, claim, and step into our gifts. What if that is enough? We are not called to save the world. We are called to own and use our unique superpowers, to be what we were created to be. The universe takes care of the rest. The ripple effect reaches well beyond our awareness. We need to believe that who and what we are is enough, and is powerful, beautiful, and needed in this world.
You are here to enable to divine purpose of the universe to unfold.
That is how important you are! (Eckhart Tolle)
With intention and imagination, we can connect to our power and help the world lean toward love. Tolle says, “Beauty arises in the stillness of your presence.” So does Love, Wisdom, and Power. All of these arise in us as we abide in Presence.
Have no fear, and trust that you are completely supported in all the good you are here to reveal. You are so loved by life. Life is here to support you. This, you can trust. Have faith in the process. Have faith in you. Fear not, for you are guided and directed always and in all ways. -Eugene Holden
